Drawing on the rich folkloric tradition of rural Greece, the highly respected Dora Stratou Theatre Company perform their repertoire of more than 200 dance sequences in sumptuous costume, to the accompaniment of authentic Greek music. Each evening (except Mondays) through the summer, about 50 dancers, 15 musicians and two singers put on a show in the theatre on the slopes of the Philopappos Hill, opposite the Acropolis. With scrupulous attention to authenticity, the event evokes the energy, warmth and creativity of the Greek people in a unique and unforgettable visual and aural experience. The costumes themselves are in some cases are over 100 years old.
