Hanover is a Christmas wonderland, with no fewer than three illuminated Christmas markets. The traditional market and historical village are on the Town Hall Square at the centre of the Old Town around the Marktkirche. There is a craftsmen's alley that leads shoppers through the medieval world of glassblowers, potters, candlemakers, blacksmiths and felt makers. Entertainment specifically for children includes puppeteers and storytellers. The Finnish Christmas village on Ballhofplatz offers specialities such as reindeer furs and Finnish hand-crafted jewellery. In all, there are about 150 festive stalls selling everything from Christmas tree decorations to wooden toys and craftwork.
