One of Germany's oldest Christmas markets that was first mentioned in town records as early as 1692, the Stuttgart Christmas Market is also one of the country's biggest that each year fills the square with more than 230 festively-decorated stalls. Set against the wonderful backdrop of the Old Castle, the Collegiate Church and the Baroque grounds of the New Palace, the Stuttgart Christmas Market is in a great location that oozes old world charm. Attractions and entertainment at the market includes a fairytale forest, an ice-skating rink, choral performances and live music as well stall upon stall selling a great range of the region's favourite culinary treats such as gingerbread, roast almonds, grilled sausages and mulled wine.
