Atlanta,
United States
Each year an estimated 300,000 revellers fill the streets of Atlanta for the loudest and brashest party of the year, the Atlanta Pride. Promoting unity, visibility and self-esteem among lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people, the Atlanta Pride is a street party to which everyone is invited. Held over a three-day weekend in June, the pride features live music, dancing, art and craft markets, food and drink stalls and public speakers. One of the highlights of the festival that always draws huge crowds is the colourful parade through the heart of Atlanta which sets off at about 1300 on the Sunday from the MARTA Civic Center Station.
