Part of Disney's Wide World of Sports programme, the popular Marathon Weekend takes runners on courses through Orlando's famous Walt Disney World Theme Parks. The full 42km (26.2 miles) marathon course starts at Epcot, continues on to the Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney-MGM Studios and then back to Epcot and the push for the finish line. There is also the option to run the shorter half marathon, which is staged the day before the marathon. Participants in both events are invited to attend the post race celebration and awards ceremony at Disney's Pleasure Island
