6/01/2009 - 6/30/2009Rat Race Urban Adventure
Bristol,
United Kingdom
The city plays host to the annual Bristol Rat Race Urban Adventure which is one of a series of Rat Races that take place in the UK. Catering to the growing number of adventure racers, the Rat Race is a new breed of competition that takes participants through the urban environment of the city's streets. Including a number of disciplines such as cycling, running, kayaking and abseiling, competitors are put through their paces on a city-wide course which includes cycling down steps in the city, canoeing on the river and orienteering at an old cave network by the docks. Competitors race in mixed teams of three and there are Mean Streets (for newcomers) and Adventure (for experienced racers) categories. After each day's racing, participants that still have the energy can party into the small hours at race parties. This unique race series is only a few years old but has already won itself legions of fans as one of the most exciting urban competitions in the UK.
