    For two weeks at the height of summer, Bath hosts its International Music Festival during which it puts on an eclectic music programme covering everything from jazz to classical performances. Each year the festival opens with a free open-air concert which always attracts a large and enthusiastic crowd. There are many ways to enjoy the festival with free events, education projects, workshops, walks and talks. With its rich Roman history and many museums, galleries, restaurants and parks, the wonderful World Heritage city of Bath provides a great venue for this musical extravaganza which is one the most important events of its kind in the country.

    Getting there:
    Road: Bath is located just 16km (10 miles) from junction 18 of the M4 motorway which runs direct from London and Heathrow. There are also excellent motorway links from the North and Devon and Cornwall via the M5 motorway. Wales is just a short drive west on the M4.
    Rail: Regular direct services from London Paddington and Waterloo to Bath, with an average journey time of around 90 minutes.
    Foot: Once in Bath itself, many of the sites are within easy walking distance of the city centre.
