World championship powerboat races take place at six different venues through the summer. The first race of the season takes place at Malta's Grand Harbour, between the capital, Valletta, and the 'Three Cities' on the opposite shore. An international field of competitors and their high powered twin-engine racers create an exhilarating occasion of keen competition. Malta will host two rounds of the world championships in a grand prix event that will also incorporate a round-island speed record challenge. Malta has become one of the most popular venues in the P1 powerboat calendar, much appreciated by participants and fans alike for its historic setting, fine climate and warm welcome.
