5/01/2009 - 5/31/2009Prague International Marathon
Prague,
Czech Republic
The first Prague International Marathon was held in 1995 with 980 runners competing in the main race and 10,000 taking part in the fun run. Today, more than 3,000 people enter the competitive race with a further 13,000 and 12,000 participating in the City Run and the Family Run respectively. It is recognised as one of the most internationally-attended marathons in the world with approximately two thirds of the entrants coming from overseas. Spectators line Prague's historic streets to cheer on the runners. The course follows a loop beginning and ending in the Old Town Square. After the serious business of the running is over, the event takes on a party atmosphere with entertainment including street performers and live music.
