Heading a list of book fairs in the Czech Republic, Bookworld Prague is an international show held in the Art-Nouveau Industrial Palace at the Prague Exhibition Grounds. Built for the Provincial Jubilee Exhibition of 1891, it attracts booksellers, librarians, information professionals, literary agents and representatives of publishers and printers as well as book lovers by the thousand. Day one is given over to the trade, thereafter, the event is open to everyone. Bookworld features numerous programmes including professional seminars and conferences, meetings with writers, author readings, presentations by publishers, and awards ceremonies for outstanding publishing and creative achievements. In an eagerly anticipated regular, the Translators Guild presents a prize for the worst translation of a foreign work into Czech.
