Over 40 European countries participate in the annual European Heritage Day which celebrates each country's customs, culture and architecture. The event is coordinated by the Council of Europe and offers visitors to each participating country a rare opportunity to visit historic buildings that are usually closed to the public. And visitors to Cyprus won't be disappointed with a number of its buildings and villages laying on special events as part of the Heritage Day celebrations. Perivolia is a particularly good example of a well-preserved and well-kept Cypriot village and the local inhabitants entertain their many visitors on this day with a classical concert in the evening.
