Around 1,000 participants, many of them in the traditional dress of their country or region, perform the music and dance associated with their respective wedding ceremonies and carnival customs. Sacral and world music concerts also form a part of the richly varied fare on offer during this important five-day festival. Artists from home and abroad illustrate the broad diversity that exists in the folk tradition worldwide, building and developing on the reputation this festival has acquired since it first took place in the 1960s. Dance and music workshops, exhibitions, films, CD and DVD promotions support the main stage acts.
