Escazu,
Costa Rica
The town of Escazu has acquired quite a reputation as a centre for folklore and the arts in Costa Rica. In particular, its 'Dia de los Boyeros' (Ox Cart Day) attracts hundreds of people. They all pour into the town, many of them wearing the simple, traditional dress of the fields, with an intricately decorated cart drawn by a pair of oxen. It is a very colourful and picturesque occasion which retains its genuine rustic credentials.
