First inaugurated in the spring of 1957, the Chinese Import & Export and Commodities Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn. It is China's largest trade fair, and the most important in terms of variety of products exhibited, attendance and business turnover. About 50 trading delegations, including thousands of foreign trade companies, factories, scientific research institutions, foreign invested enterprises, wholly foreign-owned enterprises and private enterprises attend this international event. The fair focuses on export trade, although import negotiations can also be conducted here, and offers a platform to business people from around the world to meet, exchange ideas and forge business relationships.
