Chile's biggest book fair is held in the most important cultural centre in the country, the historic, beautifully restored station of Mapocho, which has been declared a National Monument. The fair presents hundreds of publishers and a programme of cultural activities to a total audience of more than 220,000 visitors. The first couple of days are for professional visitors, and other days are devoted mainly to education and to libraries. Through the course of the fair there is also ample opportunity for book lovers to browse and to buy from a large selection of titles from all over the world. Talks and a variety of entertainments help to fill the day
