The Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) is one of the showpiece events in the Edmonton calendar, a top competition bringing the best rodeo competitors from the Canadian professional rodeo season to town. Wrestling with steers, roping cattle, racing around barrels at break-neck speeds and battling with bucking broncos and bulls are all on the bill, to decide who will be Canadian champion for the year. A big cash prize is at stake. The event is popular with fans, too, with nearly 100,000 paying to see a slice of the action. Other enduring favourites at the show include bareback riding, team roping, tie-down roping, ladies' barrel racing, Miss Rodeo Canada Crowning, wild pony racing, black tie bingo, tradeshow stands and fancy lasso and rope tricks
