8/01/2008 - 8/31/2008Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival
Edmonton,
Canada
After Edinburgh, this is the second largest fringe festival in the world. Since 1982, artists and audiences have come together here in a fun, safe, and exploratory environment. As with all fringes, the idea is to provide all artists with a stage, regardless of the content, form or style of their act, and to make it both affordable and accessible. This allows the best acts to emerge through a sometimes bruising interaction with the audience, whilst anything that is mediocre or plain disastrous tends to fall by the wayside. Audiences love the eclectic mix on offer and numbers have grown dramatically in response to the policy of each show having its own unique and distinctive flavour, while sticking to the Fringe philosophy of being an accessible, inexpensive, and a fun theatre-going experience. The Edmonton Fringe attracts performers from Canada and around the world
