Berry picking is a favourite summer pastime in the Labrador Straits and the bakeapple, or cloudberry, is the most famous of all berries. So much so, it lends its name to the Bakeapple Folk Festival, the high point of the social season hereabouts. A celebration of local heritage with folk singing, dancing, music, games, crafts, food, and entertainment, the festival also holds out the promise of local specialities and the bountiful harvest of the northern bakeapple
