A place not a person, the town of Norman Wells is situated on the Mackenzie River in the heart of the Northwest Territory with a population of around 800. An outpost of comfort in the wilderness of the frozen north, it makes a good base for exploration and offers various tourist services, among them the annual Fossil Hunt. A unique event, it does much as it says - a fossil hunt in fabulous country with a big family barbeque to look forward to at the end of each day
