8/01/2008 - 8/31/2008New France Festival
Quebec,
Canada
The New France Festival (Fetes de la Nouvelle France) attracts more than 400,000 visitors each year who flood the streets of Old Quebec. The festival began as a modest affair in 1997, a costume re-enactment designed to bring a taste of colonial life back within the walls of the Old City. Each year since then, the festival has celebrated a different theme and added new features and attractions. Through the many concerts, parades, plays, and other festivities with hundreds of costumed festival-goers, visitors are transported back to the 17th and 18th centuries in the only festival of its kind in North America. To fully participate, visitors can dress up in costume themselves with helpful tips and advice available on the organiser website
