The long running book fair in Rio has been a leading literary event in the city for many years, growing in size and stature with each new edition. It's the most important publishing event in Brazil and attracts authors, writers, journalists, publishers and students to the cavernous venue where there are endless opportunities to browse and buy books covering every conceivable topic. A national theme is adopted for each Fair with special exhibitions and shows planned around that theme. Besides the book stalls and exhibitions there is a Discussion Forum, conceived and developed for university students and book lovers, to discuss varied themes which have included investigative journalism, cinema, television and the publishing industry.
