In the fabulous setting of the Baia de Guanabara, with the Sugarloaf Mountain as a backdrop, this international sailing competition has taken place since the 1940s. It is one of the foremost regattas in South America and attracts teams from naval academies around the world. Many local and foreign contestants also take part in the J-24 class competitions as well as other categories of vessel. The event makes for a fine spectacle and is also an occasion of friendship and camaraderie among yachtsmen
