4/01/2009 - 5/31/2009Royal Greenhouses Open to Public
Brussels,
Belgium
The Royal Greenhouses of Laeken comprise one of the most important monuments of the 19th century in Belgium and are often referred to as 'glass palaces'. Some of the plants of Leopold II's original collections still exist there, together with the enormous numbers of rare and valuable plants which have been added to the collection since. There are many showpiece exotic plants, and a very important collection of camellias. Every year in springtime, the Royal Family open the greenhouses to the general public, free of charge, a tradition that has been carried out for more than a century.
