Founded in 1951, the Queen Elisabeth Competition is open to musicians from all countries who have completed their training and who are ready to launch their international careers. The competition covers the disciplines of piano, voice, violin and composition. The performance sessions take place every four years and the competition for composers every two years (even numbered years). The winning works of the composer's competition are given as compulsory works during the piano and violin sessions. Standards are high in this major event and successful candidates begin their careers at the highest levels. Visitors may attend sessions and full concerts in beautiful venues, closing with a gala concert at the Palais des Beaux-Arts.
