Visitors to the prestigious Spanish Riding School in Vienna can witness the famous Lipizzans horses perform in the spectacular annual Gala Performance. Trained to exacting standards, the school is based on the classical equitation traditions of the Renaissance haute école that stretch back over 400 years. In an incredible display of control and technique, audiences watch the horses as they perform pas de deux, the work in hand on the long reigns, and the 'great school quadrille' which requires eight stallions.
