Each year approximately 8,000 people turn up to witness this pageant of color, music and activity. One of the largest of the eastern side Canadian Scottish Festivals, it takes place in the grounds of the historic Old Government House after a warm-up event in town. A free concert in Queen Street with the Saint Andrew Pipe Band drums up interest in the main event, a free open-air concert at the venue with folk music and Scottish bands. Piping, drumming, highland dancing and heavy event competitions make up the core of the show, and there is also a ceilidh tent which combines entertainment with refreshments. Activities, workshops, children’s events and vendor’s stalls complete the line-up.
