The theme of this museum-civilization-is broad to the point of vagueness. Happily, the curators have taken this as carte blanche to be wildly creative. Exhibitions are dynamic (expect holograms, videos, and ambient sounds), often interactive, and sometimes downright bizarre. Three permanent galleries share the space with seven ever-changing temporary exhibits. Of the permanent galleries, the best is People of Québec...Then and Now," including busts and portraits, furniture, coins, and pop-culture objects (open 10-5, Tuesday-Sunday; free on Tuesdays, Nov. 1-May 31, admission $6.50).
