Special Events:

Semana Santa (Holy Week), Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday (usually Apr), a week of large-scale religious processions parading often huge statues through the main streets, featuring hooded penitents. Good Friday is the main parade (website: www.semanasantatoledo.es)
Corpus Christi, end May-early/mid Jun, this is the most important festival in Toledo featuring religious processions on a carpet of flower petals and fragrant herbs, at the heart of which is the huge Monstrance from the Cathedral (said to have been made with the first gold brought from America). Children in fancy costume, bands and giant papier-maché figures lighten the proceedings (website: www.corpuschristitoledo.com)
Festival Internacional de Música de Toledo, early May-early Jun, a month of classical concerts are held in the Museo de Santa Cruz and other venues around the city (website: www.toledofestival.com)
Los Patios, Jun, many of Toledo’s finest privately owned patios, hitherto inaccessible to the public are opened
Jazz Festival, second week in Nov, local, national and international bands play at the Teatro de Rojas and other venues around town
