Facilities include a pharmacy, bank, bureau de change, post office, car hire, duty-free shops, bars and restaurants. There are two VIP lounges, and the airport can also provide meeting rooms for business purposes. General airport information desks, located in Arrivals, Departures
and at Check-in, can help with any specific airport queries and there is a tourist information desk in Arrivals.
Bus 1 runs from the airport to Plaça d’Espanya in the city center and along the seafront to the port approximately every 15 minutes from early morning until late at night, and takes about 30 minutes. Taxis to the city are also available.
Getting There By Road:Palma is easily accessible by road, thanks to Mallorca’s highly developed road network. The island’s three motorways all merge on Palma’s Via Cintura (ring road): the Llevant motorway comes in from the west; the Ponent motorway from the east; and the central motorway from Inca and the northeast. It is easy to access all parts of Palma from the ring road. Driving in the city itself is relatively straightforward, with major sights clearly signposted. However, there are several one-way systems which can be confusing.

The information center at Palma de Mallorca bus station, Carrer Eusebio Estada (tel: (971) 177 777), can provide free route maps and timetables, or contact one of the island’s tourist information offices for further information.
Getting There By Rail:Palma’s train station, Estacion de Palma de Mallorca (tel: (971) 752 245 (Palma-Inca-Manacor)
or 752 051 (Palma-Sóller)), is located at Plaça d’Espanya. The trains are operated by
Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM), Mallorca Railway Services. A narrow-gauge railway, the
Ferrocarril d’Inca (Inca Railway), runs from Palma to Inca, Sa Pobla and Manacor every 20 to 25 minutes throughout the day, and takes approximately 40 minutes to Inca and one hour to Manacor. An old wooden train, the
Ferrocarril de Sóller (Sóller Railway) (website:
www.trendesoller.com) runs from Palma to the mountain town of Sóller seven times a day, and takes about 55 minutes. Inter-Rail passes are not valid on either of the trains.
Getting Around:Public TransportPalma has a comprehensive
bus network, operated by
Empresa Municipal de Transports de Palma de Mallorca (EMT) (tel: 900 700 710; website:
www.emtpalma.es). There are over 20 routes, most of which operate approximately 0700-2100/2200. Most buses pass through the main bus station in Plaça d'Espanya, and timetables and route maps can be found at every bus stop. Consider buying a book of bus tickets (
targeta 10 viatges urbana) if you intend to travel frequently by bus. Discounted travel is available for students and OAPs, and children under 14 years travel free.
A new
metro line, which took two years to build and cost €120 million, opened in April 2007, with nine stops linking the city center with the University of the Balearic Islands campus.
