Solar Moinho de VentoThis is a typical Porto restaurant serving local specialties in the traditional way. The fish soup, baked codfish and the Oporto-style tripe (
tripas à moda do Porto) are all delicious and served in generous portions. The queen of fado music, Amalia Rodrigues, once performed here.

Chez LapinA rustic restaurant on the quayside in Porto,
Chez Lapin serves up hearty local fare in a warm, cosy atmosphere. Prices are reasonable, the local dishes are all good, the location by the river is great, and not surprinsingly, it is very popular.

Meson de TapasAn excellent place for a quick bite to eat or a more extensive meal, the
Meson de Tapas is located in the basement of the El Corte Inglés store in Vila Nova de Gaia. It offers a wide selection of genuine and very flavorsome Spanish tapas as well as larger dishes.

Nightlife:Bars: Trintaeum Cafe Bar, Rua do Passeio Alegre 564 (website:
www.trintaeum.com), is a bar and club located in the Foz district (by the mouth of the Douro River) and offers a cosy and friendly atmosphere, a huge dance floor and lots of great music courtesy of the many excellent DJs spinning the discs.
Bazaar, Cais das Pedras, has great views over the river and a new concept of fusion between culture and leisure, opening during the day as a cafeteria with fashion and design stores and by night as a bar (website:

Cafe Guarany, Avenida dos Aliados 85-89 (website:
www.cafeguarany.com) is a restaurant and cafe with a more alternative and artistic vibe and is a good place for a slow drink or two. There are also plenty of bars and places to have a drink along the riverfront in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
Clubs: Pitch Club, Rua de Passos Manuel 34-38 in the heart of Porto, has two floors and offers cool trendy design, great music and outstanding sound system (website:

Live Music: Hot Five Jazz & Blues Club, 51 Largo do Actor Dias (tel: 967 543 980) is one of Porto’s best jazz clubs, with great music and atmosphere. There are also concerts of jazz, blues and New Bossa every week at
