Getting There By Air:

Verona Airport (Valerio Catullo) (VRN)
Tel: (045) 809 5666.
Website: www.aeroportoverona.it

Verona Airport is the nearest international airport to Verona, located in Villafranca, just 12km (7.5 miles) from the city center.

Facilities at the airport include car rental, currency exchange offices, ATMs, bars, restaurants, shops and first aid. Business travelers can take advantage of the infracom room, which offers video conferencing facilities, computers
and Wi-Fi Internet access. There’s a tourist information desk at the airport where staff can assist with transport enquiries and help out with information about the region.

Verona Airport is conveniently situated to the south west of Verona, near the M4 and M22 motorways. A bus service between the airport and Verona’s railway station departs every 20 minutes from early in the morning until late in the evening. Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall.

Getting There By Road:

Verona is located 160km (100 miles) west of Milan and 114km (75 miles) east of Venice. It is easy to reach either by taking the A4 motorway running between Milan and Venice, exiting at Verona Sud, or by taking the A22 Brennero-Modena motorway, again exiting at Verona Sud and following the signs for the city center.

Autostrade (tel: (06) 4363 2121 or 800 269 269; website: www.autostrade.it) provides information on motorway traffic in Italy, while Automobile Club Italiana (ACI) (tel: (02) 6616 5116 or 803 116; website: www.aci.it) provides general information for drivers.

Emergency breakdown services:
ACI 803 116

Buses from towns and villages in the Verona region and also from Lake Garda to Verona city center are operated by Azenda Provinciale Transporti Verona (tel: (045) 805 7911; website: www.aptv.it). Eurolines (tel: (055) 357 110; website: www.eurolines.com) operates coach services from other European cities via Verona’s Porta Nuova bus station.

Getting There By Rail:

The main railway station in Verona is called Porta Nuova. It is located to the south of the city center, and Ferrovie dello Stato (tel: 064 4101; website: www.ferroviedellostato.it) operates daily train services between Verona and all the main cities in northern Italy. Both the Milan-Venice line and the Brennero-Rome line run via Verona Porta Nuova. There are frequent city bus services from the railway station to the city center.

Getting Around:

Public Transport
The historical city center of Verona is quite compact, and several of the city’s main sights are within easy walking distance from the center, so many visitors to Verona decide to explore Verona mainly by foot. Still, the public transport system is very good. Azienda Mobilita e Trasporti di Verona (AMT) (tel: (045) 887 1111; website: www.amt.it) operates a network of more than 20 bus routes with frequent and reliable services throughout Verona. Daily bus passes are available. The AMT buses are blue, while the regional buses operated by Azienda Provinciale Transporti Verona (tel: (045) 8057911; website: www.aptv.it) are orange.

Taxis
There are several taxi ranks throughout the city including at the train station and at Piazza Bra. Many taxi drivers do not respond to attempts at hailing their taxi on the street. To pre-book a taxi try Taxi & Autoblu (tel: (045) 858 1403) or Unione Radiotaxi (tel: (045) 800 4528).

Car Hire
There are numerous car hire companies operating in Verona. Alamo (tel: (045) 987 660; website: www.alamo.com), Avis (tel: (045) 987571; website: www.avis.com), Europcar (tel: (045) 600477; website: www.europcar.com) and Hertz (tel: (045) 861 9042; website: www.hertz.com) are among the car hire companies represented.

Bicycle Hire
Bicycle hire is available from El Pedal Scaligero (tel: 333 536 7770) at Piazza Bra from April to September. The cycling club Amici della Bicicletta di Verona (tel: (045) 800 4443; website: www.amicidellabicicletta.it) organizes various cycling trips and excursions.
