It is the third busiest in the country, and provides direct flights to every capital city in Australia as well as most destinations in Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. A major expansion and modernization of the International Terminal is currently under way to accommodate larger aircraft and cater for an increased number
of flights.
Facilities include a big Direct Factory Outlet, ATMs, currency exchange, conference rooms (tel: (07) 3406 3066), cafes, bars and restaurants, a multi-denominational prayer room, a tourist info desk, several duty-free shops and car rental from
Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Red Spot and
Thrifty.
The

www.airtrain.com.au) provides a link between the Domestic and International Terminals and Central Railway Station in the city (journey time - 22 minutes).
Coachtrans (tel: (07) 3238 4700; website:
www.coachtrans.com.au) operates services between Brisbane Airport and Brisbane Transit Center and to the door of all CBD hotels, meeting all major flights seven days a week. Other services are available to the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Taxis are available, and a trip to the city center cost around AUS$35.
Getting There By Road:The main road to Brisbane is the Pacific Highway (M1), which follows the coast to the east. When traveling from the south (from Sydney and the Gold Coast), it then becomes the South East Freeway (M3) as one approaches the city.

Driving distances: Travel distance to Cairns is about 1,750km (1,087 miles), to Townsville 1,400km (869 miles), to Sydney 1,000km (621 miles), to Melbourne 1,700km (1,087 miles).

A zone system is in place, but the CBD and most of the inner suburbs are in zone one. Daily tickets are available, allowing unlimited travel on buses, trains and ferries within a certain zone. Off peak tickets are also available. NightLink buses, trains and flat fare taxi services operate late on Fridays and Saturdays to destinations across Brisbane.
