Together with the National Railway Museum and the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, the Science Museum is part of the National Museum of Science & Industry. Located in central London, the museum owns an impressive collection of science exhibits, including the Apollo 10 Command Module, the V-2 rocket, which was the world’s first long-range missile, and Stephensons’ Rocket locomotive. The Science Museum, which originally opened along with the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1857 as the South Kensington Museum, now houses one of the largest collections of scientific, medical, industrial and technological exhibits in the world. There are numerous interactive displays and permanent exhibitions. Entrance is free but there are charges for some exhibitions.
