Scotch Whisky Heritage Center and Royal Mile Overview

The historic Royal Mile in Edinburgh's Old Town leads from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood House and is actually one mile and 107 yards long. Visitors can tour the Scotch Whisky Heritage Center, situated at the top of the Royal Mile, which allows them to see how whisky is made and is believed to have a resident ghost. The Camera Obscura at the top end of the Royal Mile, is also one of Edinburgh's top attractions, where visitors can see a panoramic view of the city reflected onto a white table. Tron Kirk is located at the junction of North Bridge and the Royal Mile and is a traditional place for partygoers to gather and hear the bells toll, ringing in the new year at midnight on Hogmanay (December 31). The long list of other attractions on the Royal Mile include: Highland Tolbooth Kirk, Ramsay Garden, Writers' Museum, Brodie's Close, Parliament Square, John Knox's House, Museum of Childhood, Netherbow Port, Huntly House, Canongate Kirk, Abbey Lairds, Gladstone's Land, Queen Mary's Bath House and St Giles' Cathedral.
