Great Orme Tramway Overview
The Great Orme Tramway is a funicular railway consisting of two tramcars which use a system of counterbalanced weights on cables so that as one train descends the hill, it helps to pull the other one up. The cable tramway is over 100 years old and is one of only a few still in operation in the world that today continues to take tourists up Great Orme. From the top there are spectacular views across the traditional Victorian seaside town of Llandudno with its sandy beaches and promenade. A half way station was added in 2001 where visitors can break their journey with a visit to the nearby Bronze Age Copper Mine. At the summit there's a Visitor Center with children's play area. The trams run every 20 minutes, seven days a week from March through to October.
