Bosque Nuboso de Monteverde (Monteverde Cloud Forest) Overview
Straddling the Continental Divide and covering 170 sq kilometers (66 sq miles), this vast forest has its head - and its feet - in the clouds. The ever-present drizzle and mist provide a home to an amazing array of flora and fauna. Trails, overnight shelters for camping and a 91-meter (300-feet) suspension bridge enable visitors to experience the incredible biodiversity of the forest. There is also a Visitor Center, Butterfly Center, Orchid Garden, Serpentarium and Hummingbird Gallery, as well as the Frog Pond of Monteverde Herpetarium. Other highlights include the Sky Trek and the Sky Walk, a series of trails and platforms reaching high into the jungle canopy.
