Getting into Bali is not the challenge it once was decades ago. Today, most travelers arrive on the island via Ngurah Rai International Airport in Tuban. Even though it is commonly referred to as Denpasar International Airport, the facility is about a 30-minute drive outside the city. The airport is one of Indonesia’s busiest, and is a major hub for flights from Australia, the South Pacific and Southeast Asia.

Ngurah Rai International Airport is not the most architecturally breathtaking or passenger-friendly airport in the world, but it caters for millions of tourists each year. Duty-free shopping, internet connection, ATMs and a range of restaurants can be found in the terminal. Remember to bring with you 25,000 IDR for the visa fee, since other currencies are not accepted and ATMs are not found on hand.
