Lanzarote has an interesting culinary culture with both international and traditional cuisine found in most cities and resorts. Mojo is a local sauce made from a variety of ingredients including red chilies, lemons, spices, and green peppers. It goes well with the local snack, papas arrugadas (sliced and salted fried potatoes). There are plenty of international restaurants serving a range of dishes, including Italian, French, and Greek favorites. British pubs are also popular. The nightlife in Lanzarote is quite spectacular, with towns like Puerto Del Carmen and Playa Blanca boasting the best spots on the island. Most establishments stay open until the wee hours of morning, sometimes 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
