Location The airport is located in Rhoose, 20km (12 miles) west of Cardiff city center and 16km (10 miles) from Junction 33 on the M4.
Driving Directions Exit at Junction 33 and follow the A4232. Take the first exit off the A4232 at Culverhouse Cross and follow signs to the airport along the A4050 and A4226.
Car Parking Short-term, long-term and business parking is available at the airport. There are parking spaces designated for disabled people in both the short-term and the long-term car parks.
Car Hire The following car hire companies are available at the airport: Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National Alamo.
Public Transport Rail: Train: Trains run every hour in each direction between Cardiff Central Station and Rhoose Cardiff International Station. A free shuttle bus operates between the station in Rhoose and the airport. Road: Bus: Cardiff Bus service X91 runs between Cardiff Central Station and the airport hourly Monday to Saturday daytime and every 2 hours during daytime on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. EST Transport operates bus 95 every hour in the evening Monday to Saturday between Cardiff Central Station and Cardiff International Airport via Barry and Dinas Powys. Taxi: Checker Cars (tel: (01446) 711 747), the official taxi operator for the airport, is located outside the arrivals hall to the right. Taxis are available upon arrival or can be booked in advance.
Information and Help Desks The information desk is located on the first floor of the terminal building. In addition to offering information relating to travel or the airport’s facilities, it also has fax and photocopying equipment for use by travelers.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: There are ATMs on the first floor of the terminal building and in the arrivals hall as well as in the departures lounge. Bureaux de change are situated on the first floor of the terminal and in the baggage reclaim hall. Eating and drinking: Several catering options are available in the terminal. There is the Food Village, which sells sandwiches, snacks, hot food and beverages and is located in the food court area on the first floor of the departures building. Burger King is located adjacent to the Food Village. A bar on the first floor serves alcoholic and soft drinks. A café in the departures lounge offers a range of pastries and hot and cold drinks. A bar in the departures lounge has a full range of alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as a comprehensive food menu. Shopping: There are two newsagents selling a full range of newspapers, books, snacks, gifts and tobacco in the terminal building. In the departures lounge, the Travel Shopping Tax and Duty Free shop offers a wide range of perfume, cosmetics, confectionery, clothing and electronic equipment. It also has duty-free liquor and tobacco for travelers outside the EU. An electronics store sells the latest equipment from Sony, Apple and other leading electronic brands. Luggage: Items found should be handed to a member of security or to the information desk. Enquiries about lost property should be made to the information desk (tel: (01446) 711 111). Other facilities: Special baby care rooms are available on the first floor of the departure lounge and in the arrivals hall. A chaplaincy is located on the first floor of the departures lounge. A play center is available in the airside departure lounge. There are two game zones with the latest video arcade machines at the airport, one on the first floor of the terminal building and the other within the departure lounge.
Conference and Business Facilities The exclusive 51° Lounge is located in the international departure lounge. Business class customers can benefit from this service free of charge, but it is possible to buy a day’s membership. Business facilities such as fax, photocopier, telephone and Wi-Fi access are available. Fax and photocopying facilities are also available at the information desk on the first floor of the terminal.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers The airport is well equipped with facilities and arrangements to make accessibility as good as possible. They include dedicated spaces in the car parks, low level kerbs at the terminal entrance and exit, lifts between all floors, specially designed toilets on the first floor, in the departures lounge and in the arrivals hall, a minicom facility for the deaf or hard of hearing (available at the information desk), an ambulift for aircraft boarding, induction loops at check-in and other areas and telephones of reduced height throughout the terminal. Travelers can borrow wheelchairs for use throughout the terminal building.
