Airport News
The new international terminal opened in September 2006 and cost €150m to build. The old international terminal is currently being renovated and will be serving as the airport’s new domestic terminal from March 2007. The old domestic terminal will be abandoned. The new international terminal is not an extension. It is completely separate from the old terminal building. Another development is that Izmir Metro trains are expected to connect the airport with the city in 2008.

Transfer Between Terminals
There is a pedestrian walkway between the new international terminal and the new domestic terminal that can be used once the latter opens in March 2007. Of this passage, 400m (1,312ft) are moving walkways

Driving Directions
Finding the city from the airport or vice versa is easy. From the city, head south on the E-87 and follow signs to the airport. From the airport, take the E-87 towards the north and follow signs to the city center. The main road is called Akcay Road.

Car Parking
There are over 2,300 parking spaces at the multistory car park of the new terminal. The car park is just in front of the terminal and short- and long-term parking lots are available. Monthly membership cards are available.

Car Hire
Car hire companies represented at the airport include Artı Rent a Car, Avis Rent A Car, Eco Rent a Car, Europcar, Sixt Rent a Car and Yes Rent a Car.

Public Transport
Road: Taxi: Taxi ranks are located in front of the airport terminal building, and there are always taxis available during the airport’s operating hours. Transfer from the airport or a hotel can be booked in advance (tel: (232) 274 6646). Many hotels will help arrange a private transfer to the airport. Bus: Bus company Havas (tel: (232) 444 0487) operates buses to and from the airport, with a journey time of around 50 minutes. Buses from the city center to the airport run every hour, and there are frequent shuttle bus departures from the airport to the city correspond with incoming domestic flights. Travelers arriving on non-domestic flights will in the majority of cases get a ride with these buses, but not if all seats are taken by domestic travelers. Hence, the metro will for many be a better alternative.
Rail: Train: It is possible to travel between the airport and the city by overland train, but services are infrequent (five or six departures each way per day). Journey time is around 30 minutes.
