Location The airport is located 37km (23 miles) north of Houston.
Transfer Between Terminals A free underground inter-terminal train runs between all terminals and the airport hotel. The TerminalLink, an over-ground automated people mover, provides an airside connection between Terminals B and C and E.
Driving Directions Convenient access to the airport is provided by I-45, Hwy-59, the Hardy Toll Road and the Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8). There are two main entrances to the airport terminal complex via JFK Boulevard from the Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8), Will Clayton Parkway from Hwy-59 and the Hardy Toll Road (Intercontinental exit). There is a toll for the Hardy Toll Road and the connector exits directly onto JFK Boulevard, northbound.
Car Parking There are over 25,000 parking spaces at the airport. An additional 5,600 spaces are available in the Terminal A/B garage situated between Terminals A and B, and 2,500 more at Terminal E. Terminal C covered parking is also available. The Houston Airport System also operates an economy car park that provides parking at the corner of Greens Road and JFK Boulevard, with free shuttle service to the terminals. In addition to the economy car park, passengers can also choose from a number of off-airport car parking facilities with courtesy shuttles to the terminals.
Car Hire All major companies are represented, including Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. A consolidated car hire facility (tel: (281) 233 1010; website: www.iahrac.com) is situated on the east side of JFK Boulevard, less than 5 minutes from the terminals. A common bus system is shared by all the car hire companies, departing from outside the Arrivals areas of each terminal.
Public Transport Road: Bus: Shuttle services are provided by Super Shuttle (tel: (713) 523 8888; website: www.supershuttle.com) to various locations throughout the Houston area. These companies also provide regular services to hotels within the Houston Metroplex, as well as to Galveston and College Station. Groundshuttle (tel: (979) 739 2836; website: www.groundshuttle.com) also provides services to College Station. Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) offers public bus services from the south side of Terminal C. METRO bus route 102 is the Bush Intercontinental Airport Express which runs from the airport to/from Greenspoint Mall and the city center. Taxi: Taxis are available outside each terminal and are hailed by airport ground transportation staff.
Information and Help Desks Visitor/airport information is provided at the staffed visitor information centers, located on the baggage claim level of terminals A, B and C and outside US Customs in Terminal D. Multilingual special service representatives are available.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: ATMs are located throughout the airport; bureaux de change can be found in Terminal D. There are 24-hour postal facilities. Eating and drinking: Restaurants and bars are available throughout the airport and there are also numerous fast-food outlets and coffee shops in all terminals. Shopping: There are many shops at the airport. Duty-free shopping is in Terminal D. Luggage: Trolleys are available at various locations throughout the airport for a small charge. Due to security concerns, lockers are no longer available at the airport. Lost property is located on the lower level of Terminal A. Other facilities: Baby changing facilities can be found in the ladies’ toilets and shoe shine services can be found in all terminals. There is an interfaith chapel.
Conference and Business Facilities The Houston Airport Marriott (tel: (281) 443 2310; website: www.marriott.com) is located in the center of the terminal complex and provides a complimentary underground train service to/from the airport. The hotel offers a business center with a choice of 39 meeting rooms and full office facilities.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers Visually- or hearing-impaired passengers can request assistance or information (tel: (281) 233 3000 or TDD tel: (281) 230 3089). There are disabled toilets and TDD telephones in the terminals, and car parking spaces reserved for disabled passengers in the airport’s car parks. White courtesy telephones are located throughout each terminal for assistance.
Hotels The Houston Airport Marriott (tel: (281) 443 2310; website: www.marriott.com) is situated between Terminals B and C and provides a complimentary underground tram service direct to the airport. The Best Western Intercontinental Airport Inn (tel: (281) 548 1402; website: http://book.bestwestern.com), Comfort Suites Bush Intercontinental Airport (tel: (281) 442 0600; website: www.choicehotels.com), Sleep Inn Bush Intercontinental Airport (tel: (281) 442 7770; website: www.choicehotels.com), Sheraton North Houston (tel: (281) 442 5100; website: www.starwoodhotels.com), La Quinta Inn (tel: (281) 219 2000; website: www.lq.com) and Wyndham Greenspoint (tel: (281) 875 2222; website: www.wyndham.com) are also in the vicinity. Many of the hotels operate courtesy buses to/from the airport; these can be booked by contacting the hotel concerned via courtesy telephones in the baggage reclaim area.
