Airport News A renovation project was completed in June 2006 that expanded the International Terminal and the duty-free facilities, added a new lounge and gave most of the airport a more traditional, Seychelloise Creole feel. The project has improved the flow of passenger traffic and decreased processing time for passengers coming and going.
Transfer Between Terminals There is a walkway between the international and domestic terminals. It takes two minutes to walk from one to the other.
Driving Directions From Victoria city center, head towards the south east following signs for the airport.
Car Parking There are 40 short-term and 106 long-term parking spaces at the airport with direct access to terminal buildings.
Car Hire Car hire is available at the airport from Hertz (tel: 322447; website: www.hertz.com) and Sixt (tel: 515 532; website: www.e-sixt.co.uk). Car rental desks are located in the arrival and departure halls. Most of them are open only when there is a flight in or out of the airport. Avis has several offices in town, including one at the Coral Strand Hotel (see Airport Hotels).
Public Transport Road: Transportation services to all points on Mahe are available by coach and taxi. Buses operate from 0530 in the morning until 1930 at night and depart for Victoria every 20-30 minutes. Taxis operate 24 hours from the airport.
Information and Help Desks There is a tourist help desk in the arrival hall which is open whenever there is a flight.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: There are mail boxes, a bank, ATMs and a bureau de change. There are public telephones throughout the airport. Internet facilities can be found on the first floor of the international departure lounge and wireless Internet access in all of the international terminal. Eating and drinking: There are restaurants and bars in both passenger terminals. Shopping: There are duty-free shops in the arrival and departure halls of the International Terminal. The new and improved concourse also features two new book and craft shops. Other facilities: These include a travel agent.
Conference and Business Facilities There is a VIP lounge in the International Terminal building.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers These are limited. Currently a system of ramps is used for disabled access. Adapted toilets are also available. Contact your airline for further information and assistance.
Hotels Located 5 km (3 miles) north of the airport, the Wharf Hotel & Marina (tel: 670 700) is a new luxury hotel halfway between the airport and Victoria. It is a 5 minute drive either way. Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Beach Resort & Casino, which boasts lush tropical gardens and pristine white beaches (tel: 287 287; website: www.berjayaresorts.com/berjaya-beau-vallon/info.html) is 15km (9 miles) north west of the airport. So is the Coral Strand Hotel, surrounded by tropical palm trees and the warm Indian Ocean on the Beau Vallon Beach (tel: 621 000; website: www.coralstrand.com).
