Location The airport is located 9km (6 miles) to the northeast of central Queenstown, in the lakeside settlement of Frankton.
Airport News 2007 has seen the completion of a NZ$30m redevelopment project that has involved the rebuilding of the aircraft parking areas and the construction of a new terminal which is almost three times the size of the previous building.
Driving Directions Driving from the airport to Queenstown or vice versa is straightforward. Take Frankton Road either way and follow the signs.
Car Parking The drop-off and pick-up zone is located directly outside the main terminal building. All short-term and long-term car parking is accommodated in the public car park outside of the terminal.
Car Hire The following car hire companies are available at the airport: About New Zealand Rental Cars, Apex Car Rental, Avis, Britz, Budget, Hertz, Maui, National, New Zealand Rent A Car and Thrifty.
Public Transport Road: Bus: Connectabus (tel: (03) 441 4471; website: www.connectabus.com) services run between the airport and the town center every 20 minutes (journey time - 20 minutes). Shuttle: Kiwi Shuttles (tel: (03) 442 2107) and Super Shuttle Queenstown (tel: (03) 442 3639) offer shuttle services from the airport to Queenstown. Taxi: The taxi stand is located outside the arrivals area. The airport is served by Alpine Taxis (tel: (03) 442 6666) and Queenstown Taxis (tel: (03) 442 7788).
Information and Help Desks The airport information desk is located in the arrivals concourse and offers help with accommodation or travel reservations or general travel information. Baggage can also be left at the information desk.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: An ATM is located in the concourse. A Travelex counter (tel: (03) 442 3805) is located between the Arrivals and Departures concourse. All foreign currency sales and purchases, traveller’s cheques, credit card cash advances and international money transfers available. There are four coin-operated Internet booths in the main concourse. Eating and drinking: The airport cafeteria is located in the arrivals area. Shopping: Apart from the duty-free shop that offers tobacco and alcohol, perfumes, toiletries and much else, there are gift shops, a book shop, a shop selling unique New Zealand hand-knitted sweaters, a jewelry and souvenir shop, a ski and outdoor store and a shop specializing in outdoor clothing. Luggage: For items lost on all flights, contact Air New Zealand Customer Service (tel: (03) 441 4876). For all items lost in the terminal building, contact Queenstown Airport Corporation (tel: (03) 442 3505). There airport has luggage storage facilities. The baggage trolleys are free of charge. Baggage can also be left at the information desk. Other facilities: Baby changing facilities and a first aid room are available. The terminal is also equipped with an AED (defibrillator).
Conference and Business Facilities The Air New Zealand Koru Lounge is located on first floor and can be accessed via the stairs midway along the departure concourse. A meeting room is available in the airport administration offices (tel: (03) 442 3505).
Facilities for Disabled Travelers Adapted toilet facilities are provided, along with an elevator to level 2. Designated disabled car park spaces are located in the setdown area outside the terminal building.
Hotels There are no hotels at the airport. Millennium Hotel Queenstown (tel: (03) 441 8888; website: www.zqn.co.nz/millennium) is located on Frankton Road, the main road into Queenstown, 8km (5 miles) from the airport. Eichardt’s Private Hotel (tel: (03) 441 0450; website: www.eichardtshotel.co.nz) is 6km (4 miles) west of Queenstown Airport.
