The airport is located 12km (7.5 miles) from Christchurch.

Airport News
The airport is in the process of developing an integrated Domestic and International terminal. The first stage of construction was completed in 2006 with the opening of a new car park building. The entire NZ$195 million terminal project is slated for completion by late 2010.

Transfer Between Terminals
There is internal access between the Domestic and International terminals, and there are domestic transfer check-in counters in the International Arrivals hall.

Driving Directions
From the center of Christchurch (Cathedral Square), take Columbo Street, and from there Bealey Avenue and Harper Avenue. Turn right onto Fendalton Avenue and continue to Hagley Park, turning into Memorial Avenue. The airport is located over the roundabout on Memorial Avenue.

Car Parking
There are open-air short- and long-term parking spaces as well as a new multi-level car parking building.

Car Hire
Car hire companies are located in the International and Domestic Terminals. Avis, Budget, Hertz New Zealand, Europcar, Maui Rentals and Thrifty offices are all represented at the airport.

Public Transport
Road: Bus: The Airport Flyer public bus service runs to the city center (journey time - 30 minutes); shuttle buses can be shared and take travelers to their accommodation. Transport to Christchurch city center is available outside the Domestic and International areas of the terminal building.
Taxi: Taxis are available to the city center (journey time - 15-20 minutes).

Information and Help Desks
Travel and information centers are located in the Domestic Terminal and International Arrivals lounge. In addition to providing information and bookings for local accommodation, transport and sightseeing tours, the staff operate a full travel agency service and can cater for any further international or domestic travel and holiday arrangements. Airport Facilities
Money and communications: A full range of ATMs, banking services and bureaux de change are located throughout the terminal building. Fax, photocopying and postal services are available at the left-luggage office. Telephones are situated throughout in both terminals. Internet kiosks and Wireless Internet access are also available.
Eating and drinking: Bars, cafés and restaurants are located throughout the airport.
Shopping: Shops, including duty-free, are located in International Arrivals (before customs), the International Departures lounge and the gallery boutiques on the first floor (passengers only); there are also shops in the Domestic Terminal.
Luggage: The Travel & Information centers in the terminals should be contacted for lost and found property (tel: (03) 353 7774). A left-luggage service (tel: (03) 353 7040) is available next to the Travel & Information center in the Domestic Terminal. Trolleys are available in both terminals.
Other facilities:
There is a hairdresser, florist and a pharmacy in the Domestic Terminal. There are children’s play areas on the first floor and in the Domestic Terminal. The visitor center of New Zealand’s International Antarctic Center is a 5-minute walk from the terminal buildings.

Conference and Business Facilities
Conference and business facilities are available within the airport complex at the International Antarctic Visitors Center (tel: (03) 353 7798; website: www.iceberg.co.nz) and the Sudima Hotel Grand Chancellor (tel: (03) 358 3139; website: www.sudimahotels.com). Airline lounges are situated on the first floor of both terminals.

Facilities for Disabled Travelers
Facilities for travelers with special needs include lifts, automatic doors, wheelchair access, accessible toilets and showers, ATM machines with Braille keys and dedicated parking spaces at the front of the public car-parking area. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.

Hotels
The Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport (tel: (03) 358 3139; website: www.sudimahotels.com) is a 5-minute walk from the terminal building. The Copthorne Hotel Commodore (tel: (03) 358 8129; website: www.commodore.net.nz) and the Scenic Circle Russley Hotel (tel: (03) 358 6500; website: www.scenic-circle.co.nz) are located a few minutes’ drive from the airport. Staff at the airport travel and information center can provide assistance with bookings and offer recommendations to suit travelers’ needs and budget.
