Driving Directions From the center of Buffalo, take SR33 East/Kensington Express. From elsewhere in New York State, take the I-90 (NYS Thruway East) and leave at exit 51 to join SR33 East-Kensington Expressway. For detailed maps and driving directions, consult the airport’s website.
Car Parking There is a covered short-term car park directly outside the terminal building for any stay under two hours. The preferred long-term car park, for daily or long weekend trips, is located within walking distance of the terminal; free shuttle buses also operate between the terminal and the car park. Two further long-term car parks are designed for longer trips; free shuttle buses operate to/from the terminal 24 hours. Parking in any car park for 30 minutes or less is free of charge. Car Hire Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National are all represented at the airport, with desks located on the ground level of the short-term parking garage, immediately opposite the lower level Arrivals area.
Public Transport Road Bus: NFTA-Metro (tel: (716) 855 7300; website: www.nfta.com) operates bus services between the airport and various places around Buffalo. The Airport-Downtown Express (bus 204) runs from the airport to downtown Buffalo. Bus 30 runs between the airport and Niagara (journey time - about 65 minutes). Bus 68 runs between the airport and the Amtrak Station in the city center (journey time - 50 minutes). Tickets can be bought on the bus. Buses depart from the lower level, outside Arrivals. Taxi: The Airport Taxi Service (tel: (716) 633 8294; website: www.buffaloairporttaxi.com) operates taxis to/from the airport. Fare information is posted inside the taxis and passengers can obtain an estimate from the driver before setting off. The company also offers shuttle services to downtown Buffalo hotels and Niagara Falls, with shuttles departing on the hour every hour.
Information and Help Desks An information center is located on the lower level of the terminal, next to baggage reclaim. The center can provide maps and regional information, as well as bus timetables and brochures; there is also a courtesy paging telephone. During busy times, Volunteer Hospitality Ambassadors are available to assist passengers with information.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: ATMs are located in the upper level, next to the business center and in the baggage reclaim area in the lower level. The post office and bureau de change are situated in the Business Center. Public telephones are situated next to the play area in the Gateway and concourse areas in the upper level and in the baggage reclaim area in the lower level; all phones have data ports and calling card readers. Workstations are available at gates 4, 14 and 20. Paid-for Wi-Fi Internet access is available in the departures and baggage claim areas. Eating and drinking: In the upper level, there are various bars, restaurants, fast-food outlets and snack bars. Vending machines are located on the lower level. Shopping: There is a newsstand and gift shop in the upper level. Luggage: Lost property is handled by the NFTA Police (tel: (716) 630 6150). Other facilities: A hair salon and shoe shine are located on the upper level. There are children’s play areas in the Gateway in the upper level and at Gate 17.
Conference and Business Facilities The Business Center (tel: (716) 635 0770) has bureaux de change, fax, photocopying, computer and Internet access, conference room hire, pre-paid phone cards/stamps, word processing, travel information, travel guard airport flight insurance, American Express travelers and gift cheques services. The conference room (tel: (716) 635 0770) is available for hire by ticketed passengers only and is located at Gate 9 on the upper level; the room holds 20-25 people. US Airways has an executive lounge for club members on the upper level.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers The terminal is equipped with lifts, escalators, ramps, TDD telephones and disabled toilet facilities, ATMs and counters. Signs have raised Braille characters. There are dedicated drop-off parking spaces for disabled passengers immediately outside the terminal, on the Arrivals lower level; car parks are fully accessible and most shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible; assistance with luggage is also available. Aircraft lift devices are also available. Passengers requiring special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
