Location
The airport is located 5km (3 miles) east of the city of Heraklion

Driving Directions
The airport is located to the east of the city of Heraklion, at the north side of the island of Crete, and it can easily be reached via Icarou Street.

Car Parking
The car park is located near the terminal building and has parking spaces for 500 cars.

Car Hire
There are various car hire companies at the airport: Avis, Budget, Eurocartell, Eurodollar, Eurolease, Hertz, Holiday Auto, Motor Club-Sigma, Motor Sport, National-Alamo, Sixt, Tourent and Travel Star.

Public Transport
Road: Taxi: There are taxis available at the kerb opposite the arrivals hall. They provide a quick and efficient service, but it is advisable to agree the price with the driver before the journey. Bus: The bus service is good. Local buses leave from the airport every few minutes from early morning until late in the evening from Monday to Saturday and less frequently on Sundays.

Information and Help Desks
There is one information desk in the terminal, located centrally in the departures area. It is open 24 hours a day.

Airport Facilities
Money and communications: There is an ATM available in the departures area. Several payphones are available. Eating and drinking: There is one restaurant and six snack-bars at the airport. Shopping: There are two duty-free shops, located in the departure areas for Schengen and non-Schengen countries. There is also a kiosk selling a variety of products including spirits, chocolates, newspapers and cigarettes. Luggage: There are four handling agents at the airport, and each one has its own lost and found service. Other facilities: Baby changing facilities are available.

Conference and Business Facilities
A VIP lounge is located in the check-in area, but there are no conference or business facilities as such at the airport.

Facilities for Disabled Travelers
Facilities for disabled people include reserved parking spaces, ramps and toilets that are easily accessible to wheelchair users.

Hotels
There are no hotels at the airport. Atlantis Hotel (tel: (2810) 300 330 or 220 088), Lato Boutique Hotel (tel: (2810) 228 103), Hotel Mirabello (tel: (2810) 285 052) and Marin Dream Hotel (tel: (2810) 300 019/8) are all located in Heraklion town center, 4km (2 miles) from the airport.
