The airport is situated 10km (6 miles) north of Accra city center.

Airport News
Comprehensive redevelopment of the terminal was completed in recent years, which has included the provision of a proper lounge and a modern arrival/immigration/baggage hall. Further improvements are under way.

Travelers may experience unexpected delays even after checking in. Passengers should get the required seat reconfirmation stamped on the ticket, ensure that they have emergency funds for food and lodging in the event of the unexpected delays, and arrive at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure times.

Driving Directions
From Accra city center, head north following the signs for the airport.

Car Parking
Around 1,000 spaces are available in 24-hour car parks at the airport.

Car Hire
Several car hire companies are represented at the airport, with booths outside the arrivals hall. These include Avis and Europcar (chauffeur-driven cars only).

Public Transport
Road
Taxi:
Metered or shared taxis are the only form of transportation available. Metered taxis can be found at Car Park 2, close to the Arrivals ext from the terminal. You can get a taxi from the airport to Nkrumah Circle or Osu for under US$3, but be prepared to haggle the fare.

Information and Help Desks
There is an an airport information desk in the arrival hall, along with a Ghana Tourist Information counter.

Airport Facilities
Money and communications: A post office and bureau de change are available. Several ATMs are available in the terminal and Wi-Fi Internet access is available in the Departures area. Card phones are located at several points throughout the terminal; cards are available from the post office and some shops.
Eating and drinking: Facilities include a bar, restaurants and food kiosks.
Shopping:
There are a few shops in the terminal, including duty-free.

Conference and Business Facilities
A business center in the domestic flights area provides communications and secretarial services. The Ghana Airways’s Akwaaba Lounge is available for the airline’s first and business class passengers. The State Protocol Lounge is for use by senior government officials/diplomats and VIPs. Business and conference facilities are available at the at the Golden Tulip Accra (see Hotels). Wi-Fi Internet access is available in Departures.

Hotels
The Holiday Inn Accra Airport (tel: (021) 780 494; website: www.ichotelsgroup.com) is just 1 km (0.6 mile) from the airport – complimentary transport is available. The four-star Golden Tulip Accra (tel: (021) 213 161; website: www.goldentulipaccra.com) is located in a quiet suburb on the outskirts of Accra, a five-minute drive from Kotoka International Airport and a 10-minute drive from the city center. A free shuttle service runs between the Golden Tulip and the airport. Also close by is the smaller Airport View Hotel (tel: 021) 769 594; website: www.airport-view.com).
