Location The airport is located 28km (17 miles) northeast of central Salvador.
Driving Directions The easiest way to drive from the airport to the city or the other way is to follow the BA099 road that runs close to the coastline and follow the signs.
Car Parking The car park is located near the terminal building and has parking spaces for 600 cars. Both short-term and long-term parking is available.
Car Hire Hire car counters can be found in the terminal building. International companies represented include Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz.
Public Transport Road: Bus: Buses between the city center and the airport are fairly frequent. Take the Praça da Sé/Aeroporto bus. It is much cheaper than going by taxi. Buses also go to Rodviaria Bus Terminal, which is the city’s main bus station and located 5km (3 miles) from the city center. Taxi: Taxis are available outside the terminal building. Companies include Abaete Aerotaxi (tel: (71) 377 2555), Aero Star (tel: (71) 377 1763), Adei Taxi Aereo (tel: (71) 377 1993), Bahia Taxi Aereo (tel: (71) 377 2897) and Lider Taxi Aereo (tel: (71) 377 1416).
Information and Help Desks An information desk is located in the terminal. A tourist information counter is also available. They provide information about transport, the city, the region and accommodation. Excellent maps of the city are available from the tourist information desk.
Airport Facilities Money and communications: The ATMs are all in the arrivals hall area (to the left, past the Policia Federal). Cambio Gradual offers 24-hour money-change services. A post office is available in the terminal building. Internet access is also available, and mobile phones can be hired. Eating and drinking: There are good cafes and fast food restaurants at the airport. A bar offers alcoholic or soft drinks. Shopping: There are several shops in the terminal building selling a variety of items, including fashion clothing, jewelry, gift items and books and magazines. There is also a pharmacy in the terminal building. Luggage: A left luggage facility is available in the terminal building. Other facilities: Medical facilities are available. There are also baby care facilities in the terminal building.
Conference and Business Facilities There is a VIP lounge at the airport.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers Toilets for wheelchair users are available, and there are parking spaces reserved for disabled people. Travelers in need of assistance at the airport should contact their airline.
Hotels There are no hotels at the airport. Hotel Cocoon and Lounge (tel: (71) 3368 8100) and Sofitel Salvador (tel: (71) 2106 8500) are located within 5-10 minutes driving distance from the airport.
