The airport is situated 15km (9 miles) east of Lexington and 30km (18 miles) southeast of Frankfort.

Airport News

A period of renovation of the interior of the terminal building was completed in 2010 as part of a wider $55 million improvement project.

Driving Directions

Blue Grass Airport is easily accessible from Highway-60 and is in close proximity to Blue Grass Parkway and Interstates-75 and 64. From the west on Interstate-64, turn right at exit 58 and continue along Highway-60. Turn onto Man-o-War Boulevard and follow signs to the airport. Coming from the east on Interstate-64 or 75, take exit 115 on to Newtown Pike and go to New Circle Road. Follow New Circle Road west to Versailles Road (Highway-60). Take Versailles Road west to Man-o-War Boulevard. Enter the airport via Terminal Drive.

Car Hire

Avis, Enterprise, Hertz and National are represented at the airport. Car hire service counters are located in the baggage claim area on the ground floor. The pick-up and drop-off area for hire cars is located next to the terminal building.

Public Transport

Bus: The Transit Authority of Lexington (tel: (859) 253 4636; www.lextranonthemove.org) runs services from Blue Grass Airport to the Transit Center on Vine Street in Lexington. The service is operational from Monday to Friday between 0600 and 1800. Shuttle: Cornett's Airport Shuttle (tel: (859) 797 5151) serves the cities of Somerset, Science Hill, Eubank, Waynesburg, Stanford and Danville. Many local hotels provide shuttle services to and from Blue Grass Airport. Direct line courtesy telephones to the hotels are located next to baggage claim. Taxi: Taxis can be hailed from the taxi rank outside the terminal by the baggage claim exit. Taxi operators at the airport include Mr Taxi (tel: (859) 223 8888), Wildcat Taxi (tel: (859) 225 2227) and Yellow Cab (tel: 859 231 8294).

Car Parking

Short- and long-term parking, operated by Republic Parking (tel: 859 255 0063), is available opposite the terminal building, both in open parking areas and within a covered garage. The first 30 minutes of parking in these areas is free of charge. Economy parking is available behind the main car park and there is a 'cell phone' waiting area near the terminal building. Parking for individuals with disabilities can be found in each parking facility.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are two ATMs at the airport, one by the main entrance on the first floor of the terminal and the second in a restaurant on the second level. Free Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout the terminal. A post box is located outside the terminal entrance for all outgoing post. Postage stamps are available for purchase at the information center. FedEx and UPS drop boxes are located at the terminal entrance.
Eating and drinking: A café serving breakfast, lunch and dinner is located on the first level. On the second level (inside security) is a full-service bar and restaurant.
Shopping: Outlets offering a wide variety of magazines, newspapers, books, clothing, toiletries, snacks and souvenirs are situated on the first and second levels. There is also a shop selling frames, paintings and pictures.
Luggage: Left luggage facilities are not available. For items lost in the common areas of the airport, call 859 425 3112.
Other facilities: There is a first aid office on the ground level. For first aid assistance, pick up one of the house phones. There are children's play areas in the lobby on the first level and by the airline gates on the second level.

Conference and Business Facilities

There is an executive lounge, The Club at Blue Grass (tel: 859 425 3100), in concourse B on the second floor (third level). It offers complimentary snacks and beverages, workstations and photocopying and fax services.

Facilities for Disabled Travelers

The airport is fully accessible to passengers with disabilities. Lifts are located on each side of the airport terminal by the security checkpoint and baggage claim. Skycaps provide wheelchairs and additional assistance to and from the gates. A public TDD phone is available for the hearing-impaired on the second floor. Designated parking spaces are reserved in all parking areas for those with disabilities.
