An additional 1,400 parking spaces are now available at the airport following addition of another level to garages A, B and C.
Transfer Between Terminals
A free shuttle bus runs between the car parks and all terminals every six or seven minutes 24 hours a day.
Driving Directions
From Washington DC, take I-395 South, then GW Parkway South onto the airport exit.
Car Hire
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National and Thrifty are all represented at the airport. Hire cars are located in car park A and are accessible via courtesy shuttle from the terminals.
Public Transport
Bus: A SuperShuttle (tel: 1 800 258 3826 in the USA; www.supershuttle.com) door-to-door service is available. It takes passengers to their requested destination, stopping at Union Station.
Taxi: Taxis to Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland are available at the exits of each terminal.
Rail: The Metrorail (tel: (202) 637 7000; www.wmata.com) light-rail service for destinations throughout Washington D.C. stops at Terminals B and C. From Terminal A, travelers need to take the airport shuttle to terminal B or C in order to use this service. Journey times are around 10-15 minutes.
Car Parking
Car parks A, B and C provide hourly and daily parking, with nearly 9,000 spaces available; all three are connected to the terminals. The economy car park provides long-term parking, with a free shuttle bus service to all three terminals. Further parking information is available (tel: (703) 417 7275). The first 20 minutes of parking, in all car parks, is free of charge. Valet parking is available (tel: (703) 417 1234), and there is a ‘cell phone’ waiting area.
Information and Help Desks
The airport has an information line (tel: (703) 417 8000) and information counters, located in all terminals. Travelers Aid facilities are located in Terminal A (tel: (703) 417 3972) and Terminals B and C (tel: (703) 417 3974).
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: Several ATMs are available in the terminals. Foreign currency exchange is available at the customer service centers in terminals B and C. Some 150 phone banks offer Internet access through data ports. Mail boxes can be found in all terminals. Other postal services are available at the North Customer Service Center. Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout the airport.
Eating and drinking: There is a wide range of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, snack bars, fast-food outlets and cafes in all terminals.
Shopping: There are many shops, including newsagents, gift shops, bookstores, a sweet shop, fashion and jewelry shops, luggage shops, toy stores and other retail outlets.
Luggage: No left-luggage or lockers are available at the airport. Lost property is handled by the Authority Police (tel: (703) 417 8560); items unclaimed after 24 hours are handed to the Central Lost and Found Office (tel: (703) 417 0673). A porter service is available at all terminals. Baggage assistance is available from Skycap porters.
Other facilities: Shoe shine facilities are located in Terminal A. An interfaith chapel - open 24/7 to all faith traditions - is located at the south end of Terminal B on the concourse level.
Conference and Business Facilities
The Business Service Center (tel: (703) 417 3200) in Terminal C provides foreign currency exchange, insurance, fax, photocopying and other services. There are no meeting or conference facilities at the airport, but meeting rooms are offered at the nearby Hilton Crystal City Hotel (tel: (703) 4186800; www.hilton.com), the Courtyard Arlington Crystal City Hotel (tel: (703) 549 3434; www.marriott.com), and other local hotels.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers
The airport has lifts, disabled toilets and telephones, telephones with raised Braille numbers and TDD telephones. Skycap porters can assist disabled passengers; wheelchairs and special assistance should be arranged with the airline prior to travel. Disabled parking is available in all car parks; shuttles to the terminals are equipped with wheelchair lifts.
